A 34-year-old man who has a record of schizophrenia, was arrested on May 17, 2016 on suspicion of killing the 23-year-old woman at a bar bathroom near the Gangnam subway station in Gangnam district, which has sparked a wave of mourning and a public outcry over violence against women in the traditionally male-dominated country.
