Scientists in a laboratory at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (now known as the Rockefeller University), New York City, USA. The Institute was founded in 1901 by the oil magnate and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller. A number of biomedical discoveries have been made at the Institute, including that viruses can cause cancer, and that genes are made of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), and over 20 Nobel Prizes are associated with it.
