Tissue Bank
(Date taken unknown)
^BDissection of a knee tendon ^bin preparation for transplantation. The tendon is being dissected in a sterile cupboard, to minimise the possibility of contamination. Tendons from donors can be kept in storage in tissue banks and then transplanted as ^Iallografts^i into suitable recipients when they are required. Tissue samples are kept with the tendons so that the tendons can be checked for compatability with the recipient and for disease.
