Lecture by Hitoshi Akiyama in Tsukiage Town 12 years after the "Akiyama" Difference
Hitoshi Akiyama looks back on those days, introducing a newspaper article from 12 years ago (2:15 p.m., September 27, 2015, Tsukiage Town, Fukuoka Prefecture)Published in the Seibu Morning Edition on September 28, 2015, page 34
Hitoshi Akiyama, 68, a mathematician and director of the Center for Research in Science and Mathematics Education at Tokyo University of Science, gave a lecture in Tsukiage Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, on September 27. The town planned a lecture by Jin 12 years ago, but by mistake invited Koji Akiyama, 53, former manager of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks professional baseball team, who shares the same surname, to give the lecture, which became a nationwide topic. Mr. Hitoshi said, "This time it is the real one; he was supposed to come 12 years ago," to the delight of about 260 residents and others.
In November 2003, Shiida Junior High School in the town planned a lecture by Mr. Jin. However, due to a mistake by the people involved, Koji-san came to the school. Although it turned out to be a mistake, Koji readily agreed to be a substitute and gave a one-and-a-half hour "stand-in" performance.
