Hirahara-no-Taki-biraki
JULY 2, 2017 - Men purify themselves by standing under water during Hirahara-no-Taki-biraki, an annual event at the Hirahara Waterfall in Nishio City, Japan.
Each year, yaku-otoko, men whose current age is considered unlucky or risky, participate in this ceremony, known as mizugori. Water from the falls is directed through bamboo pipes and falls on the men, purifying and protecting them in their unlucky year. (Photo by Ben Weller/AFLO) (JAPAN) [UHU]
