Paralympic Games in Tokyo (1964)--Wheelchair Basketball Games Continue to Heatedly Battle into the Night
On November 8, 1964, the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo was held, and the heated competition began with 375 athletes from 21 countries and regions participating in 144 events in 9 sports. This was the first time for the Japanese athletes to participate in the Tokyo Games, and 53 athletes competed. The Japanese team won 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals, ranking 13th overall in medal count.
