The booming economy continued for 43 months in a row at department stores in Tokyo, the longest postwar record (Izanagi Boom) = as of May 1, 1969. The mid-year gift sales were also brisk, and on Sunday, June 29, roughly 1.2 million people visited department stores in Tokyo, where wads of 5 billion yen in bills were flown about.
