The death toll from the torrential rains that hit a wide swath of western Japan was well over 200, making it the worst torrential rain disaster since the beginning of the Heisei era. On the other hand, there are many people who survived the disaster by making appropriate decisions at an early stage, even though their homes and other structures were severely damaged.
