Hideki Tojo

Special feature "Hideki Tojo" ("Mainichi Graph," August 21, 1983) Prime Minister Hideki Tojo has returned to Japan after a visit to Thailand and the southern military regions, and interest in the Pacific War has been renewed with the screening of the movie "The Tokyo Trials" (directed by Masaki Kobayashi). Recently, dozens of negatives of former Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, including previously unpublished photographs of him, were found. They were taken by the Mainichi Newspaper's photography department at the time, and include rare snaps.
On July 12, 1943, Prime Minister Hideki Tojo returned to Japan after a visit to Thailand, Malaya, Sumatra, and the military government of Borneo. Prime Minister Tojo was greeted upon his return to Tokyo by Thai Ambassador to Japan Tirek (to the Prime Minister's right), in Tokyo City, July 12, 1943, by a member of the Tokyo Head Office Photography Department.
