Glycogen units, molecular model
Glycogen units, molecular model. Glycogen is made from many glucose molecules linked by one of two types of glycosidic bonds. Three molecules of glucose are shown joined here, with the atoms colour-coded: carbon (grey), oxygen (red), and hydrogen (yellow). Glycogen is the storage form of glucose. It is mainly found in the liver and muscles, where it is stored until needed.
