Laboratory fermentation
Laboratory fermentation. Researchers working with a fermentation unit. The fermentation unit provides optimal growing conditions for a culture of micro-organisms. The unit provides nutrients, removes waste products and maintains an optimal temperature for reproduction. The micro-organisms being cultured have usually been genetically modified to produce a product they would not normally make. Such products can include antibodies, human hormones and enzymes.
