Genji fireflies in Shimanto River, Kochi Prefecture
The Shimanto River, which flows through the western part of Kochi Prefecture, has long been called Japan's last clear stream, and the Genji fireflies that can be seen from upstream to downstream are a poetic feature of early summer. This photo was taken from a sandbar in the downstream direction of the Nagano Chinkage Bridge (Nagano Bridge) over the Shimanto River. A summer tradition that not many people visit.
